That beats our 11-7 box at Keystone in CO by a bunch, but rumor has it
the box is missing. Anything higher?

Don't know about high.. but I do know that There is a box that is 22
feet below sea level. Boxin' (sp) owns that one I think. You can even
get it without getting wet :-)

We visited a letterbox last August that's deep below the most active
volcano on the continental US. Not sure if it's accessible anymore,
though. I'm thinking we might be the 'last' folks who ever visit this
particular box as the mountain started rumbling again less than 21 days
after we visited.

Then again, I planted one on a volcano (outside of NPS territory) in
the US that's been erupting since the 80s--it went missing about two
years after we hid it, we don't know if it got swallowed up in a lava
tube or if it just floated away into the Pacific. ;)

I know of at least one in Colorado that is quite a bit higher than
13,800. JeLyBean placed that one.

And the jury is still out, as far as I know, about the elevation of
Mapsurfer's "A Bard's Tale". It's rumored to be very high, but I
don't know of anyone who has solved that one yet.

I think Amanda from Seattle has one that probably beats all of these
out (and one on Mt Everest if ever there were one). It's probably
measured in altitude instead of elevation. Of course, it's probably
quite difficult to find--you'd have to track down her, during work,
first. dvn2r ckr

I managed to do that at about 30 ft of elevation in Philly Aiport! ;-)

Not sure what the elevation is, but we took a 4 hour hike (up a mountain, another 2 1/2 hours down from ) to the White Ranch Park Box in Colorado, which is very near the top of a mountain last summer. It was a *bit* further than we anticipated from the clues, but quite a relief to find it!
